Gluten Free Travels: Vegas 2017!

Happy almost Independence Day!

My life has been a whirlwind of crazy over the last two months. In a few weeks I’ll be living in a new city, with a new house, and a new job. So much change! More on that later.

First, I wanted to share all about my recent trip to Vegas with some girlfriends and our husbands. I’ve been to Vegas quite a few times now, and each time I go, I discover something new and exciting.

Spray tans- necessary for the Vegas pool so that I don’t blind anyone with my whiteness.

I made sure to eat lean, clean, and green the day of traveling. I don’t always travel so well, so it helps when I eat healthy foods and drink lots of water.

Immediately when we got to our hotel, one of our friends convinced us to all head over and ride the giant Ferris wheel! At night, you can see all of the Vegas strip.

The views were really cool, and there was a bar inside our compartment!

Next was dinner. As the one with dietary restrictions, I was in charge of making all the reservations. I was super excited to visit Buddy V’s RestoranteIt’s owned by the Cake Boss, and all the reviews were really good. They were super accommodating with gluten free requests, and took extra measures to make sure it was all safe. I started with the caprese salad while everyone else enjoyed garlic bread and calamari.

For my main meal, I had their chicken rigatoni alla vodka. They used a gluten free penne in place of the rigatoni. It was so so good. I had to force myself to stop eating all of it!

On Saturday we headed to the Tao Beach Club. When in Vegas right? I actually prefer these pool clubs over the night club anyway.

Everyone there had matching suits, hats, shirts… and there was a ton of bachelorette and bachelor parties going on. *Word to the gluten free, eat before you go. There’s nothing there for you otherwise. I ordered a salad, which they said they could make their Caesar gluten free. I got a bowl of dry lettuce. Seriously, not joking. Just plan, dry, lettuce. I was happy I stashed protein bars in my room for after.

We headed back to rest for a bit before going to see Zumanity. It was a good Cirque Du Soleil show, but nothing compares to Beatles Love! That one is still my favorite. We were starving after the show and headed to my favorite find of the trip, Yard Bird. Sadly, I was too hungry and forgot photos, but trust me, it was delicious. I had gluten free fried chicken, and the best cheesy grits ever.

Before ending our trip, I cashed in my Wheel of Fortune winnings (seriously, I always win!) for a Kate Spade purse! I’ve wanted one for a long time, and finally just caved in. I’ve been using it all month!

Hope you all have a wonderful 4th of July spent with family and friends (and yummy food!). We celebrated on Saturday. I made deviled eggs, of course, and we munched on burgers, chicken, beans, and dips. Can’t forget the flag cake for dessert!

I’m starting my morning with a patriotic smoothie. Cancels out the cake from the weekend, right?
