Happy Tuesday!
First, how is it February already??!?! Second, it’s supposed to be in the 80’s here today, so it definitely won’t feel like February. I’ve worked the last 3 weekends in a row, so to say I’ve been busy would be an understatement. I’m planning on spending my three day weekend this week relaxing, working out, and doing some pre-spring cleaning and organizing.
This past weekend I was at a conference in downtown Indianapolis. I stayed at the JW Marriott, which is a gorgeous hotel, and while it was freezing outside, I thankfully I didn’t have to venture out too much. While I worked out both full days I was there, my eating was definitely less than healthy! Here’s all about my gluten free splurges…
Anytime I am able to try out a new gluten free pizza, I jump at the opportunity! One of my coworkers suggested we head to Bazbeaux’s Pizza for lunch. It did not disappoint! I ordered a personal size with pepperoni, red onion, and green olives (my go to!). The crust was crunchy, but had good flavor, and the sauce was amazing.
On Friday night, we headed to Harry & Izzy’s steak house. If you have ever taken 30 college students to a nice restaurant, it’s kind of a hot mess, but the food was worth it! They have an entire gluten free menu. I started with a Caesar salad, and went with a steak and gluten free fries for dinner. It’s rare that gf people get to enjoy fries so I was pumped! *See what I mean about the “healthy’ meal choices I made this past weekend? Getting back on track this week for sure.
Saturday I went down to the fantastic hotel gym in the JW. I usually prefer to run outside, but I love the view from their treadmills. It looks straight across to a couple museums and is right by the capitol building.
Ok, final unhealthy meal of the trip. Hey, if you are looking for some fun gluten free snacks, I got your back! I met up with some coworkers from other institutions at the Indianapolis Colts Grille. I opted for the nachos, minus chili, and with some pulled chicken added. This was total comfort food, and since it was a balmy 9 degree outside, it was perfect.
I was definitely ready to head home, but I always love that Indianapolis has a ton of gluten free options in the downtown area. I never feel deprived (clearly)!
Hoping your week is off to a healthier start! I know I’m working on it =)
