Gluten Free Travels: Austin, TX

This past weekend, I headed down for a short visit with some girlfriends in Austin. One of my bffs from high school recently bought a house in north-west Austin, and it was a chance for a much needed girls weekend!

Saturday morning, I had a quick breakfast of vanilla Greek yogurt, sliced strawberries, raspberries, and banana. With coffee, it was the perfect amount of energy to get me going.

We headed out for some light hiking before going out to brunch. The views were gorgeous, and it reminded me how flat and boring Dallas can be sometimes. The weather was also amazing, it was high 70’s and sunny. It got me excited for the coming months and summer. The warmer weather is also a great motivator to get in shape!

Before dinner I split a cider with a friend. I had brought along a six-pack of Stella Cidre. I enjoy it more than most ciders because it is light, more tart than sweet, and has a bit less sugar than other brands. It’s really refreshing on a warm day. We headed to Chipotle for dinner. I always stick with a vegetarian bowl with brown rice, black beans, corn salsa, and sour cream. Chipotle has so many options if you have to eat gluten free and you can make your meal pretty healthy!

We ended the evening heading to Pinot’s Palette for some artistic fun. I don’t think this guy will be making the wall (maybe in my closet), but it’s really fun to do one of these classes.

It’s supposed to rain all week here in Dallas. I will be spending some time with family, working out, and enjoying the easier work week.

Wishing you all a wonderful week! Happy Monday!
