It feels weird talking about last weekend when we are getting so close to the next one, but I wanted to share a couple of great places Nick and I checked out over last weekend in the Dallas area.
Spring is definitely here! The weather has been gorgeous and all of the flowers are blooming. Saturday morning I took Peanut on a long walk and snapped some photos of the wild flowers growing on the greenbelts in our neighborhood.
I let Peanut off the leash so he could run and burn off some energy! This is the only way I can go back and then enjoy my coffee. He MUST be tired!
Instead of heading out Saturday to the big St. Patty’s Day Parade in Dallas, we went to go grab a drink at Goodfriend Beer & Burger Garden. The parade is really fun, but I was still tired from my travels to Indianapolis and was looking for something more low key.
I like Goodfriend because it has this great outdoor patio area. The waitress accidentally brought be a bourbon smash (I had ordered an Omission GF beer) but it ended up being a pleasant surprise!
First, it was a gorgeous drink! It was also not very sweet which was really refreshing. I usually stay away from ordering cocktails like this because they have too much sugar, but this was a nice balance of tartness with the blackberries.
After our drinks, we headed next door to a new soft serve ice cream shop that just opened up, Cow Tipping Creamery. I was beyond excited to try this place. Soft serve is by far one of my favorite desserts. The started in Austin, TX and this is their first location in the Dallas area.
I ordered the vanilla soft serve (all the flavors that day were gluten free and egg free) topped with whipped cream and caramelized bananas. It reminded me of bananas foster and it was the perfect treat for a warm day!
Random photo above of the pretty flowers my sweet husband welcomed me home to from my trip!
I am so looking forward to this weekend. I get Friday off for Good Friday so I am excited to have an extra day to get back on track! My goals this weekend are to exercise, eat healthy, and get organized. Now that spring is here, it will be bathing suit weather before we know it!
Happy Hump Day!
