Running, Weights, and Healthy Eats

Happy Friday (& April)!

I’ve been working this week to get on a strong workout schedule and to focus on healthy eating. For the most part, it was a success! (*Darn you Easter candy!)

I got up early Monday morning to head out for a walk with Peanut. It’s slowly getting lighter out each day, but it’s still hard getting up at 6:40 when it’s dark out.

The weather has been really mild and warm this week, so I headed out for a run after work on Monday. I’ve been alternating between running and doing a round of weight exercises. I’m enjoying lifting weights more each time I do it. I feel so strong afterwards!

On Tuesday, after my doctor’s appointment, I stopped by Whole Foods to pick up some breakfast and lunch before heading to work. I grabbed a “White Rock Sunset” smoothie from their coffee bar. It had strawberries, pineapple, coconut water, and banana. It was tropical and delicious.

Can’t forget the coffee! I looked kind of ridiculous carrying out my smoothie, coffee, and some soup I got for lunch. I really should have asked for a bag. I’ve been trying to eat more meals dairy free or vegan. I switched up my regular non-fat milk for almond in my coffee this week, and it tasted great!

Whole Foods has an awesome selection of prepared salads and soups. I selected a corn and kale veggie soup that had a cashew cream base. The soup was flavorful and creamy, without all the fat and guilt from heavy cream.

It’s cloudy and kind of chilly out there today. Nick and I took Peanut to run on the field near our house this morning. He always looks so happy when he’s running free.

I get off work early today, so I’ll be heading home for another weight lifting and body weight exercise session! This way I can feel good about heading out for happy hour =).

Wishing you all a relaxing and healthy weekend!

Ashley
