Oh hey there!
Nope, not dead…. just had to take a small hiatus when life got crazy. BUT… I’m back with yummy gluten free restaurant finds, travel adventures, healthy living goals, and tasty recipes! To kick things off for 2019, I’m sharing some of my favorites from a recent trip to Austin, TX. Yes, those are GLUTEN FREE ONION RINGS! And they were worth every calorie.
This past fall we took a short family trip down to Austin, just a quick 90 minutes south of us for a weekend of relaxation.
Walks along the river, iced coffee, and cute pups… what more could a girl want in a weekend away?
If you don’t know me at all, I’ve recently become obsessed with deviled eggs. I take any chance I can get to try them at a new place! For dinner the first night we stopped at 24 Diner. This place was so cute! It had that traditional diner feel and is actually really open 24 hours. Best of all, it had a separate gluten free menu with breakfast, lunch, and dinner options.
I’m a sucker for a good burger. The cheddar burger came with roasted tomatoes, which was really different, but actually worked well with the beef. Nick had this amazing looking fried chicken and gravy situation.
On Saturday we headed to Wilder Wood for dinner. If you are gluten free and have not yet visited Wild Wood Bakehouse, DO SO NOW! It’s a completely gluten free restaurant will all the yummy things you wish you could eat every day. Plus, you can take loaves of break and baked goodies to go. They do a brunch buffet on Sundays that is AMAZING. When is the last time you went to a buffet as someone who is gluten free… and you could eat everything there???
Ok, freakout over….
So Wilder Wood is their smaller storefront, but the food is just as amazing. We started with the onion rings above and they did not disappoint! I had the buffalo chicken sandwich for dinner which was such a treat, but by the time I was two bites in I was already full! It was pretty good cold later that evening though =).
If you plan to visit Wild Wood or Wilder Wood, make sure to take dessert to go as well. The cheesecake was creamy and thick.
Hoping your February is off to a positive start. More to come!
