Spring State of Mind

There’s something about the weather getting warmer, and the days getting longer, that always gives me a sense of renewal.

For me, spring means a time to organize, clean, renew my commitment to healthy eating and fitness, and reassess my goals for the year.

Cleaning up the house…

A week ago, I made a HUGE spring cleaning list for the house. Besides the usual tasks, I added a whole bunch of items I’ve been putting off for too long. I really want to start the summer clutter free!

After gaining some serious inspiration from the newest Magnolia issue, here’s the list I came up with:

  • Clean out closets and donate unused clothes. ( I really need to stop buying clothes I don’t need). DONE
  • Sort and organize all important papers. (We had stacks of papers in drawers, not the best organization system). DONE
  • Clean out guest room closets and drawers. (Is anyone else’s guest room a dumping ground? So many random things in there).
  • Organize laundry room.
  • Clear out make-up drawers.
  • Clean out kitchen cabinets and donate any items no longer needed. (We have cups for days…)

Cleaning up my morning fitness routine…

I was doing so well for a while. Wake up, walk Peanut, work out, make a protein shake, etc. But over the last few months, that somehow all fell away, and I found myself hitting the snooze button over and over again. Maybe it was the cold dark mornings, or the long work hours, or whatever, but I’m starting to get back into a routine, and it’s so much better. Knowing that I got my workout done before starting the day is an awesome feeling, and keeps me accountable when I know I’ll be tired after work.

Cleaning up my diet…

This is by far the area I struggle with the most. I’ll do really well for a few weeks, then get sick, or work crazy hours, and suddenly my meals consist of queso, GF beer, and ice cream. Although a delish combo, probably not the best plan for living a long and healthy life!

I’ve made a point to get back into my Sunday meal prepping. It’s such a big help to know my lunches are pre-portioned and that I have healthy snacks on hand for when 3pm hits hard.

I’m hoping spring will bring more fresh flowers, lots of walks in the gorgeous weather, and probably some more magazine inspo.

I’d love to hear what you are looking forward to most this spring.

Wishing you a healthy & happy spring!

Ashley
